Sam Moorhouse

Hi, I’m Sam, a Scottish snowboarder and coach with 15 years of teaching experience, based in Niseko since 2017 and still loving every day on snow.

I’ve taught across the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan, working with riders of all ages and abilities across freeride, park and pipe, and snowboard cross. I currently spend my Australian winters coaching with a development team in park and pipe, which keeps me riding all year-round.

My goal as an instructor is simple: to make every day on the mountain fun while helping you become a better, more confident rider. Whether you're taking your first turns, chasing powder or looking to progress your freestyle, I’ll tailor the experience to what you want to get out of your time on snow.

I’ve also spent many seasons exploring and guiding around Niseko and the surrounding resorts, and have professional guiding, first aid and rescue qualifications. I love sharing my favourite terrain and helping guests experience what makes Hokkaido so special.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me chasing powder, riding the park, exploring somewhere new, or riding with my friends, wife and daughter. I’ve spent most of my life around snow, and I still love it just as much as I did when I started.
