Jago Poole

Hi, I’m Jago! I started skiing when I was seven, and it has since grown from a childhood hobby into somewhat of an obsession — and definitely a huge part of my life. I’ve spent seasons skiing and teaching in the Alps and Japan, and I’m still just as excited to get out on the mountain.

Bio

Hi, I’m Jago! I started skiing when I was seven, and it has since grown from a childhood hobby into somewhat of an obsession — and definitely a huge part of my life. I’ve spent seasons skiing and teaching in the Alps and Japan, and I’m still just as excited to get out on the mountain.

One of my most memorable skiing experiences growing up was guiding my mum down the mountain after she lost her confidence, with the sun setting, the lights of the town flickering below us and piste patrol checking that everything was OK. Helping her overcome her fear and get safely down the mountain was incredibly rewarding, and it was one of the moments that made me realise that teaching could be a career I’d really enjoy.

I wanted to become an instructor to inspire others to progress in their skiing and share the exhilaration that comes with it. One of my favourite parts of being an instructor is spending every day in the great outdoors and helping people overcome their fears and challenges on the slopes. I also love helping confident skiers acquire new skills and advanced skiers hone their technique, particularly by taking complex concepts and making them simple and easy to understand.

I love almost every type of skiing, from carving and moguls to powder, trees, big mountain terrain and freestyle. I’m always keen to explore new terrain, find little drops and side hits, ski switch and try new tricks in the park. I’m especially excited to make the most of Niseko’s world-famous powder and explore more of Hokkaido, including Kiroro, Moiwa and Rusutsu.

I’ll also be spending a bit more time on my snowboard this season, taking beginner to intermediate lessons — but I’ll leave the advanced lessons to the pros! Looking forward to meeting you out on the snow!
